PPL 1OZ (Immersion Co-ed) Healthy Active Living Education
This course equips students with the knowledge and skills they need to make healthy choices now and lead healthy, active lives in the future. Through participation in a wide range of physical activities, students develop knowledge and skills related to movement competence and personal fitness that provide a foundation for active living. Students also acquire an understanding of the factors and skills that contribute to healthy development and learn how their own well-being is affected by, and affects, the world around them. Students build their sense of self, learn to interact positively with others, and develop their ability to think critically and creatively.

PPL 2O1 Healthy Active Living Education
This course enables students to further develop the knowledge and skills they need to make healthy choices now and lead healthy, active lives in the future. Through participation in a wide range of physical activities, students develop knowledge and skills related to movement competence and personal fitness that provide a foundation for active living. Students also acquire an understanding of the factors and skills that contribute to healthy development and learn how their own well-being is affected by, and affects, the world around them. Students build their sense of self, learn to interact positively with others, and develop their ability to think critically and creatively.
Note: The following courses have the same expectations as in PPL 2O1 but within a specific program area of focus.

i) PAF 2O1 (Coed), PAF 2OW (Girls), PAF 2OY (Boys), Personal and Fitness Activities. The focus of this course is on personal fitness, weight control, healthy lifestyle, and nutrition.

ii) PAL 2O1 (Coed) Large Group Activities. The focus of this course is on team skills and training within a large group activity, such as hockey, football, racquet sports, etc.

iii) PPL 2OW (Girls), PPL 2OY (Boys)Healthy Active Living Education. The focus of this course is on a variety of physical activities.

PPL 3O1 Healthy Active Living Education (Co-ed)
This course enables students to further develop the knowledge and skills they need to make healthy choices now and lead healthy, active lives in the future. Through participation in a wide range of physical activities and exposure to a broader range of activity settings, students enhance their movement competence, personal fitness, and confidence. Students also acquire an understanding of the factors and skills that contribute to healthy development and learn how their own well-being is affected by, and affects, the world around them. Students build their sense of self, learn to interact positively with others, and develop their ability to think critically and creatively. Note: The following courses have the same expectations as in PPL 3O1 but within a specific program area of focus.

i) PAF 3O1 (Co-ed), PAF 3OW (Girls), PAF 3OY (Boys) Personal and Fitness Activities. The focus of this course is on weight training, cross- country running, swimming, aerobics, and fitness training.

ii) PAI 3O1 Individual and Small Group Activities. The focus of this course is on individual and small group activities such as racquet sports, swimming, fitness, and weight training etc.

iii) PAL 3O1 (Co-ed) Large Group Activities. The focus of this course is on team skills and training within a large group activity, such as hockey, football, racquet sports, etc.

iv) PPL 3OW (Girls), PPL 3OY (Boys) Healthy Active Living Education. The focus of this course is on a variety of physical activities.

PPZ 3C1 Health for Life
This course enables students to examine the factors that influence their own health practices and behaviours as well as those factors that contribute to the development of healthy communities. It emphasizes the concept of wellness, which addresses all aspects of well-being – physical, cognitive, emotional, spiritual, and social – and promotes healthy eating, physical activity, and building and maintaining a positive sense of self. Students will develop the skills necessary to make healthy choices and create a personal wellness plan. They will also design initiatives that encourage others to lead healthy, active lives. The course prepares students for college programs in health sciences, fitness, wellness, and health promotion.

PPL 4O1 Healthy Active Living Education (Co-ed)
This course enables students to further develop the knowledge and skills they need to make healthy choices. It places special emphasis on how students can maintain the habits of healthy, active living throughout their lives as they make the transition to adulthood and independent living. Through participation in a wide range of physical activities in a variety of settings, students can enhance their movement competence, personal fitness, and confidence. Students also acquire an understanding of the factors and skills that contribute to healthy development and learn how their own well-being is affected by, and affects, the world around them. Students build their sense of self, learn to interact positively with others, and develop their ability to think critically and creatively.
Note: The following courses have the same expectations as in PPL 4O1 but within a specific program area of focus.

i) PAF 4O1 (Co-ed), PAF 4OW (Girls), PAF 4OY (Boys) Personal and Fitness Activities. The focus of this course is on physical fitness with an emphasis on cardiovascular endurance, aerobics, and weight training.

ii) PAI 4O1 Individual and Small Group Activities, P.E.O.P.E.L. Program. The focus of this course is on physical education programs for exceptional students. Participants (peer tutors) will be matched with an exceptional student and will work with that student on a one-to-one basis.

Prerequisite: Any one of PPL 3O1, PPZ 3C1, or PPL 4O1

iii) PPL 4OW (Girls), PPL 4OY (Boys) Healthy Active Living Education. The focus of this course is on a variety of sports and recreational activities.
